Persephone stumbled back a little, catching herself and pressing back forward with unfounded courage. “I’m not going to harm them, Aphrodite. I cannot. They are good kids and they don’t deserve at all what has befallen them.”
“Awww, that is so sweet of you. I see what’s happening here.” Aphrodite moved from in front of Persephone, circling her as she nibbled in an innocent fashion on her long red nail. “You think that because you’ve suffered an unfair situation that you’ll feel better, maybe given another chance, if you just help someone who’s standing over the precipice of their own unfair situation.”
Persephone realized in that moment that there was no reasoning with the witch before her.
