Up first is author Shirley Harris-Slaughter!

Book Synopsis:

OUR LADY OF VICTORY – The Saga of an African American Catholic Community is a compilation of memories, records, photos and interviews.  The author recalls growing up in the legacy of Mother Anna Bates.

Follow the tale of the infamous wall…built to separate blacks from white residents and how it almost impeded the development of the area.  It’s the story of a thriving Catholic community in spite of regressive government policies;  on the verge of developing strong Catholic roots but doesn’t quite make it.

This is the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community.  Don’t run from the information housed inside the covers of this book because the mere mention of black and white being divided makes you uncomfortable.  Run towards this historical narrative because, whether black or white, yellow or brown, if we don’t know the history, we are surely destined to repeat it!  I dare you to read this book and walk away unmoved!

Next is author Rhani D’Chae

Book Synopsis:

A brutal experience transforms an unproven young tough into a ruthless killing machine. For fifteen years he waited, building his body into an unstoppable weapon so that vengeance would be had through the strength of his will and the power of his hands.

On the bloodstained streets of a northwestern city the enforcer known as the Drill stalks his prey. Judge, jury, and executioner; he seeks out those who target the weak and the vulnerable, condemning them to the kind of justice that has made him a legend.

And last, but certainly NOT least is author Harmony Kent!

“When I write, I don’t allow the fear of consequences to interfere with the writing process.  I have in the past paid for my commitment to the truth and the way I live my life.  I am prepared to pay more if I have to. ~ Taslima Nasrin

Too many let fear of the consequences of hurt feelings dictate what they write, and their writing style.  Don’t you, be one of fear’s victims.  I urge you to simply write!”  ~ Nonnie Jules

  5. I was watching a documentary on PBS public TV called African and American hosted by Bob Gates. The catchy tune they are playing is the same song used in my book trailer “Many Rivers to Cross”. Another artist is singing it but its the same. I thought, “What a pleasant surprise”.
